Abstract

Oral and maxillofacial bone defects, resulting from trauma, congenital malformations, or surgical resections, present a significant challenge in the field of dentistry and craniofacial surgery. These defects not only compromise the patient’s aesthetics but also impair their functional capacities. The development of novel materials, techniques, and technologies has revolutionized the management of such defects, offering more effective and less invasive alternatives to traditional methods. This review aims to provide an overview of the latest advancements in the field, focusing on the properties, advantages, limitations, and clinical applications of emerging materials and techniques for oral and maxillofacial bone defect repair.
