Abstract

Oil and gas field projects play a crucial role in global energy production and economic development. Their evaluation, however, requires a comprehensive framework that integrates financial feasibility, technical complexity, environmental sustainability, and risk mitigation. This article synthesizes existing methodologies, theoretical foundations, and practical applications in oil and gas project assessment, with a focus on advancements in economic modeling, environmental impact evaluation, and the adoption of emerging technologies such as machine learning. Key gaps in current evaluation practices are identified, and potential improvements are proposed to enhance assessment frameworks. By consolidating insights from academia and industry, it serves as a valuable resource for promoting more sustainable and efficient oil and gas project development.
