Augmented Reality (AR) technology is an emerging technology with significant potential in the field of smart education. This paper reviews current research findings on the application and effectiveness of AR technology in educational environments. Through systematic analysis of the integration of AR into various teaching scenarios, including subject-specific teaching, practical skills training, and special education, the study reveals AR's unique advantages in enhancing learning engagement and visualization. Research confirms that AR technology not only significantly improves students' interest in learning through interactive 3D models but also enhances knowledge retention and practical abilities. However, the paper also identifies current challenges, including limited hardware availability, content development complexity, and pedagogical integration issues. The study concludes by proposing a multi-dimensional development framework for AR educational applications, emphasizing the importance of collaborative ecosystems between technology developers, educational content experts, and pedagogical researchers. This research provides valuable insights for advancing AR applications in smart education and offers references for optimizing the integration of innovative technologies into educational practices.
