Abstract

The emergence of sixth generation (6G) networks aims not only to satisfy the massive connectivity, ultra-low latency, and high throughput requirements of next-generation applications but also to align with global sustainability goals. Artificial intelligence (AI) plays a crucial role in facilitating this dual objective by enabling intelligent, adaptive, and energy-efficient network management. This review synthesizes current research in AI-empowered resource optimization, lightweight infrastructure deployment, and green network architectures, with a special focus on energy efficiency for sustainable 6G networks. Drawing insights from three pivotal studies, this article outlines key innovations, challenges, and future opportunities in building eco-friendly, intelligent 6G systems.
