As an important tool to promote the green transformation of the economy, green finance has a profound impact on carbon emissions through policy guidance, resource allocation and technical support. This paper summarizes the research status of the impact of green finance on carbon emissions, and analyzes the development of green finance in China and the world and its inhibitory effect on carbon emissions. Foreign scholars mainly study the role of green finance in reducing environmental pollution from a global perspective, while domestic scholars pay more attention to the specific impact of green finance practice on carbon emissions in China. Studies have shown that green finance has significantly reduced carbon emissions, especially in green credit, green securities and green investment. However, the specific measurement standards of green finance have not yet been unified, and the comprehensive disclosure of carbon emission data is also insufficient, so it is necessary to further improve the relevant research system. In addition, the inhibitory effect of green finance on carbon emissions through indirect paths such as industrial structure and technological innovation also needs to be further explored. Future research should focus on improving the data system, expanding research perspectives, and promoting international cooperation to jointly address the challenges of global climate change.
