Abstract

In the era of economic globalization and rapid technological advancement, the advanced manufacturing has become a critical sector to measure national competitiveness. This research quantitatively assesses the development and competitive strengths of China's advanced manufacturing across its provinces. An evaluation index system was constructed, encompassing innovation, reform, market, and openness four critical dimensions. The ideal point method was utilized to assess individual advantages, complemented by cluster analysis to examine the advanced manufacturing development patterns across China's 31 provinces. The study revealed significant variations and regional characteristics, identifying six distinct developmental patterns: non-equilibrium combinations, equilibrium combinations, foreign investment growth rate leadership, single-strong foreign investment growth rate, total investment growth rate leadership, and single-strong total investment growth rate. These patterns reflect the strategic diversity of provinces in leveraging their strengths and resources.
