A Review of the Research of Summary Writing under the Background of New College Entrance Examination in China

Abstract

After the new college entrance examination reform, summary writing has been formally used in college entrance examination writing in China. This new question type has triggered many scholars and front-line teachers' research and discussion. In order to further understand the current research status of summary writing in China, this paper collates and analyzes the literature related to summary writing in Foreign Language Teaching in Primary and secondary Schools (middle school papers), English Teaching and Research in Primary and Secondary Schools and the core journals of CNKI from 2015 to 2022.The findings are as follows: (1) The publication of literature related to summary writing increased explosively after 2016, but fell back in the last two years;(2) Most of the research methods are non-material research;(3) The research content is mainly teaching practice inquiry. Based on the analysis results, this paper summarizes and discusses the existing problems in the research of summary writing.
