Abstract

With the advancement of information technology, the integration of technology and finance has become a major focus, triggering an innovation wave in the financial industry and technology sector. The emergence of Bitcoin brought blockchain technology into public view. As the underlying framework for Bitcoin, blockchain is a decentralized, distributed ledger system that effectively addresses three core challenges in traditional internet architectures: centralization, data security, and trust. Over recent decades, significant research has been conducted on cryptocurrencies and blockchain, particularly within financial field. However, existing literature has seldom been comprehensively reviewed, leading to limited in-depth understanding of cutting-edge research and a lack of definitive conclusions. To address this gap, this paper aims to analyse current research on blockchain applications in finance, thereby constructing a clear and systematic map of current literature and identifying the challenges and future research directions of blockchain in the financial field.
