Abstract

Simone de Beauvoir’s novel Les Inséparables employs a "dual-narrative" structure to explore the symbiotic yet conflicted friendship between two girls. The mirror-like relationship between the dual female protagonists serves as an allegory for female self-awareness: Sylvie breaks free from patriarchal constraints to construct her subjectivity, while Andrée resists through tragic self-destruction. Drawing on Lacan’s mirror stage theory and feminist perspectives, this paper analyzes the characters and their relationships under the dual-narrative framework, revealing the feminist ethos embedded in the text.
