This article explores the application and development of video special effects compositing in the digital media technology major. Firstly, it analyzes the characteristics of mainstream video special effects compositing software and its application in teaching. Then, it studies the specific application of video special effects compositing courses in the digital media technology major. Finally, it looks forward to the future development trends of video special effects compositing courses, including technological innovation, changes in industry demand, and innovation in education models. As the core content of the digital media technology major, video special effects compositing will develop towards a more intelligent, interdisciplinary, and practice-oriented direction in the future.
