Study on the Lexical and Syntactic Features and Translation Strategies of Ice Hockey English

Translation is essential to the popularization of and international exchange activities about ice and snow sports. This paper, through analyzing the features of vocabulary and syntax in the text of ice hockey, finds that specialized words terms and abbreviation are widely used in the texts and passive sentences as well as long sentences are frequently adopted in the texts. In addition, this paper takes IIHF OFFICIAL RULE BOOK as an example to discuss the strategies and methods applied in translation practice, hoping to provide some enlightenments for the translation practice in the field of ice hockey.
