This comprehensive review aims to summarize the current literature on the various factors that contribute to postoperative swelling following surgical extraction of impacted mandibular third molars. A thorough examination of the literature has identified several factors that can influence the degree and duration of postoperative swelling, including surgical technique, post-surgical management and application of biomaterialsand. This review provides a structured overview of these factors, and their clinical implications for oral and maxillofacial surgeons.
