Qualitative Study on the Negative Emotional Experience and Coping of the Helpers of the Lonely Family

Objective: To study the negative emotional experiences and coping strategies of Assistance personnel for families who have lost their only child, and to provide reference for the development of psychological support and service supervision for these individuals. Method: A qualitative research method was used to conduct semi-structured interviews with 13 individuals. The data was analyzed using explanatory phenomenological analysis. Result: The negative emotions of Assistance personnel are mainly manifested as sadness, frustration, dissatisfaction, dislike, fear, worry, etc. The coping methods mainly include genuine expression, emotional decoration, and emotional adjustment. Conclusion: The negative emotional experiences of Assistance personnel show diverse and complex characteristics, which are not only emotional costs paid due to empathy and counter empathy, but also psychological discomfort caused by suspicion, rejection, and even complaints in interactions with the lost child. Helping people often passively deal with various negative emotional experiences based on personal experience and practical wisdom, rather than systematically and regularly addressing negative emotional issues at the organizational level.
