Lexical collocation is an essential aspect of learning Italian, but it remains a challenging area for Chinese learners. This study, grounded in the theories of trilingual acquisition and collocation, employs a combined methodology of error analysis and corpus analysis. Using a self-compiled corpus of Chinese learners of Italian L3, the writings of 296 university students majoring in Italian from seven universities in China were analyzed both quantitatively and qualitatively. The research explores specific causes of lexical collocation errors and proposes teaching strategies to address these issues.
