Total Physical Response (TPR) is a teaching method proposed by American psychologist James Asher, which plays a significant role in foreign language teaching. This article mainly provides an overview of TPR. It then analyzes and summarizes its background, theoretical basis, implementation principles, and steps. It outlines the current research status of TPR and evaluates its advantages and disadvantages. Finally, the author discusses the challenges in implementing TPR in the future and provides an outlook on its future research directions in foreign language teaching.
